Excursions

Gwaldam

Gwaldam is a quaint Himalayan town surrounded by fruit orchards. One can have a magnificent view of Nandaghunti, trishul and Nandaghunti, Trishul and Nanda Devi Peaks.

Rudranath

Rudranath is situated at an elevation of 2286 mts. amidst spectacular meadows with an amazing variety of flowers. Rudranath is one of the Panch Kedars. To reach this place one has to first go to village sagar (4 kms. by bus from Gopeshwar) and then trek 20 kms. from there.

At the temple of Rudranath, the face of Lord shiva is worshipped in a natural rock temple as in Neelkanth. from Rudranath one can get a panoramic view of the snow bound mountain peaks of hathi, Hanuman and Trishul. In the months of August & September the 8 kms. long valley from Panar to Rudranath overflows with an exotic variety of flowers.

Kuari Pass

Lord Curzon visited the Kuari Pass in 1905. so this route is still called Curzon Road. The pass can be approached from Tapovan via Khulara, or Joshimath via Auli, Gorson, Chitrakantha. All these treks meet at Gailgarh, only 5 kms. north of Kuari Khal pass.

From the south, the pass can be reached from Ghat via Ramni. Auli and Gorson bugyals are charming meadows and nature-lovers prefer to use this route for the outward trek, returning by the Tapovan route. The Ghat route is the favourite with trekkers. The entire area is rich in exotic flora and fauna, besides dense forest with associated thrills.

The beautiful range of Delisera is only a day’s trek from Kuari Pass. It presents a spectacular sight. On the other side of it is the Nanda Devi sanctuary. Snow on the range is visible till about August.
